Machine Translation: Methods and Limitations

What automated translators can and cannot do in helping the teaching of a second language.

Translating from different languages using tools such as 'Google Translate' has become an everyday occurrence for students of a second language, but how do these tools work, and what they can and cannot do? The speaker will review the history of the Machine Translation field, its current approach to translation, and the limitations inherent in such an approach.

Cost: nil.
